Benidorm Palace is proud to present a new and exciting revue show for the 2018 / 2019 season – ALEGRIAS. ALEGRIAS is a flamenco musical form and above all it can be translated as MERRIMENT and JOY With a cast of 50 talented artists the show will transport you to the excitement of a Las Vegas casino, the colours and cheerfulness of Bollywood, the rhythms and Alegrias of a Tablao in Cordoba and the vibrant merriment of a Tropical feather finale. The show features the talents of singers, dancers, live musicians, acrobats, Argentinian Gauchos, comics, jugglers and the featured magician – David Climent who stars in a thrilling number of magic to make way for the grand finale of the Show.  These Alegrias conclude with the glamour of the renowned Benidorm Palace dancers and the vibrant merriment of a Tropical feather finale. This perfect evening’s entertainment is matched with the delicious dinner that accompanies the show.

A Magritte, a van Gogh and a Goya walk into a gallery… If Rossini made a showreel of his best work, it would sound like Il Viaggio a Reims (The Journey to Reims). The prolific composer was unabashedly showing off when he wrote this incredible work, destined to dazzle the aristocracy at the crowning of Charles X and then disappear forever. The simple plot is a marvellous excuse for a string of fantastic arias and impressive ensemble pieces. Because it’s so demanding and expensive to stage, it’s never been seen in Australia before. But in 2019, Rossini’s exultant opera finally makes its Australian premiere, a spectacular vehicle for some of your favourite performers. In Damiano Michieletto’s playful take, the eccentric cast of characters find themselves in a gallery filled with the master works of art history. Velázquez’s enormous dresses jostle for space with Keith Haring’s cheerful murals. Frida Kahlo and van Gogh compare self-portraits. It’s a surreal world, where artworks step out of the frame and come to life the moment the lights go out. Delightful, surprising, spectacular and frivolous, this co-production with Dutch National Opera and the Royal Danish Theatre is a perfect foil for Rossini’s jubilant score. Gaze at the world’s most famous art through the magnificent (and thoroughly tongue-in-cheek) sets and costumes. Paolo Fantin and Carla Teti have recreated iconic works with remarkable fidelity. Young Australian conductor Daniel Smith makes his long-awaited debut with Opera Australia, bringing his characteristic sparkle in the pit to a huge cast of talents. Our musicians are at the forefront of a reemergence of Medieval English and European musical culture. The music is robust, engaging and emotive, bringing to life 800 year old musical manuscripts that have long been the domain of specialists and enthusiasts. Medieval Banquet Heritage All this takes place with the history of 1000 years beneath your feet! Our production pays homage to this history and notably to the Knights of Portsoken, a group of 13 knights in the retinue of 10th century English King, Edgar the Peaceful. The king gifted to them this very land upon which the banquet sits in recognition of performing three acts of bravery, one above ground, one below ground and one in the water, or so the legend goes. Each evening during the banquet our knights assemble to preserve the history of this ancient rite with an elaborate display of swordfighting There are many opportunities to dance with the cast, sing, bang your fists on the table and cry for your wench to bring you more food or drink! The White Tower Currently hosting the Power House exhibition, about the various national institutions founded at the Tower of London, the White Tower is recognised as one of the most important historic buildings in the world. The Crown Jewels The Jewel house at the Tower of London houses the world famous Crown Jewels. 23,578 precious stones and gems make up the Crown Jewels and include the world’s most famous diamond ‘ The Great Star of Africa’. As well as guarding the Tower and Crown Jewels they also provide tours for visitor where they regale you with tales from the Tower. Yeoman Warder Tours are included in the Tower of London Ticket Price The Royal Beasts The last thing you’d expect to see at the Tower of London would be Lions, Tigers, Elephants and Polar Bears, but for over 600 years the Royal Menagerie played host to these and many more. The Prisoners Exhibition Aside from the Crown Jewels the Tower of London is probably best known for being a prison. Prisoners have been at the Tower almost since it was built and the new interactive displays in the Prisoners exhibition help children and adults explore their stories. Entry to The Prisoners Exhibition is included in the Tower of London ticket price. The Ravens ‘the kingdom and the Tower will fall if the six ravens ever leave the Tower of London’, well according to legend anyway. Whether this is true or not the ravens have become on of the Tower’s most famous sites, just make sure you see at least 6 when you visit! The Tower Green Believe it or not being executed inside the Tower of London was considered a privilege for those of high rank. The Tower Green contains a permanent memorial for those ‘lucky’ enough to be executed there. The Medieval Palace Being the oldest part of the Tower of London, the Medieval Palace contains amazing interiors that you won’t see anywhere else. here you can experience what life might have been like in a luxurious medieval household.
