From there you will continue to visit an authentic and typical Dutch wooden windmill, followed up by a cruise on the  waters of the lake IJsselmeer to the picturesque village of Volendam. The Everglades' 10,000 Islands are some of the most diverse fisheries anywhere and is the best wintertime fishery in North America. Marco Island is the largest and most developed of the Ten Thousand Islands, so we try to fish the more remote locations. Unlike most other fisheries, it is possible to catch many different species on a single trip…Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, Speckled Trout, Silver Trout, Whiting, Redfish, Snook, Ladyfish, Catfish and various species of shark. All bait, tackle and licenses are included.

The 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge, adjacent to Everglades National Park, is inaccessible except by boat. We will whisk you to a remote barrier island within the Refuge. While places such as Sanibel or Captiva offer shelling, they are crowed. The islands that we go to rarely have a foot print on the beaches. Not only can you experience great shelling in a remote location, you will have the opportunity to see dolphin, possibly sea turtles or manatee, and a multitude of birds such as ospreys, eagles, roseate spoonbills, pelicans and the like while cruising to your island. While shelling, learn about the nuances of tides and currents and how it affects sea life. Your captain/guide will make your tour a family learning experience.

This is a wonderful alternative to an airboat ride … quiet, peaceful and surreal. Enjoy a leisurely paddle with a naturalist guide in a very unique part of the Everglades. Throughout the Mangrove forest are brackish "lakes" whose waters are a mix of "sweet" fresh water and salt water. They are nursery grounds for herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills, alligators, otters and a gamut of fishes. Interconnecting these lakes are narrow, flowing tidal creeks. The mangrove forest grows to the very edge and over the tops of these creeks forming a canopy or a tunnel. The dense canopy regulates moisture and humidity allowing orchids and bromeliads to thrive. The sunlight (or moonlight) shimmering through the canopy, the stillness of the forest vegetation and the sounds of the forest itself, make for a surreal experience in the tunnels. We use single and two person kayaks and you do not need previous kayaking experience.
