The Map Room La Sala de Mapas entró en uso desde el primer día en que las Cabinet War Rooms estaban listas para su ocupación y siguieron siendo el corazón de la zona durante toda la guerra. La habitación estaba abierta las veinticuatro horas de todos los días, desde Agosto del 1939 hasta Agosto del 1045. La función principal de la sara era actuar como un lugar de encuentro para recoger información sobre la guerra. The War Cabinet Room Este fue el santuario interior del Gobierno Británico, la sala utilizada para las reuniones del Primer Ministro, un grupo selecto de ministros y consejeros de su gabinete de guerra y sus Jefes de Estado Mayor. En el lugar se llevaron a cabo 115 reuniones del gabinete de guerra y las decisiones más trascendentales se tomaron en esta sala. Los reposabrazos rascados del asiento en el que se sentó Churchill dan testimonio de las tensiones de esas reuniones cruciales en momentos críticos de la guerra. Churchill's Room A pesar de las comodidades de su habitación en las Cabinet War Rooms, a Winston Churchill no le gustaba dormir allí. Solo la utilizaba para visitas y negocios si se veía obligado a esconderse. También realizó cuatro de sus discursos durante la guerra allí, incluyendo el discurso del 11 de Setiembre de 1940, advirtiendo de los planes de Hitler para librar una guerra contra el Reino Unido. The Transatlantic Telephone Room Transatlantic Telephone Room, una habitación en la cual había conectado un encriptador 'Sigsaly' creó una línea de acceso directo que permitió a Churchill y el presidente Americano conversar sobre sus estrategias bajo seguridad total. It was created using approximately 13,000 linear feet of aluminum tubing and 20,000 square yards of fabric. The gallery also has 125 LED lights, each capable of producing sixteen million different colors and over two billion different lighting combinations. Astronomy in Culture - WHAT YOU WILL DISCOVER Go back in time and learn about some of the people and societies who have challenged themselves to understand our place in the Universe. This exhibition features spectacular astrolabes, armillary spheres, and sundials to illustrate the medieval European and Middle Eastern conception of the Universe. Visit our medieval classroom to find out how much different school was back then. Learn how to use early astronomy tools including astrolabes and sundials. Atwood Sphere - WHAT YOU WILL DISCOVER Experience the night sky over Chicago as it appeared in 1913 in the Atwood Sphere – Chicago’s oldest planetarium. Although the star positions have not changed since then, we can see only a small percentage of these stars in our current night sky due to light pollution. The sphere is seventeen feet in diameter and has 692 holes drilled through its metal surface. These holes allow light to enter and show the positions of the brightest stars in the night sky. Take a live guided tour of the Atwood Sphere and identify stars and the constellations they form.

Depart Edinburgh at 09.30 and travel north to South Queensferry. The town is named after the 11th century Queen Margaret who dedicated her life to changing the social welfare of the people, particularly the church, earning her the title 'Saint Margaret of Scotland'. North of Edinburgh there were two very important churches - St Andrews and Dunfermline, but getting from Edinburgh across the wide Firth of Forth was difficult, so Queen Margaret provided a free ferry for pilgrims, hence 'Queen's Ferry'. The ferry remained in existence until the opening of the Forth Road Bridge in 1964 by the present Queen. From Queensferry we drive up and onto the Forth Road Bridge, giving us a great view across to one of Scotland's greatest man-made landmarks - the Forth Rail Bridge. At over a mile and a half (2300m) long, the bridge was completed in 1890, and until recently was the longest Cantilever bridge in the world. It is a true testament of Scottish engineering. Once over the bridge we enter the Kingdom of Fife. Bounded to the south by the wide Firth of Forth, to the north by the Firth of Tay and to the east by the North Sea the area was once a sub-kingdom of the old Pictish realm, a natural peninsula almost cut off from the rest of Scotland, and so remained semi-independent for longer than other parts. Central Fife used to be very poor, until the discovery of coal, while the towns and villages along its coastline were rich from all the trade across the North sea, causing King James VI to describe the area as a 'Beggar's mantle fringed with gold'. The golden fringe he referred to was the East Neuk (or nook, meaning corner), Fife's easternmost stretch of coastline and home to a string of picturesque villages each with its own distinctive character and charm. One of these, Lower Largo, is best known as the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk the real-life Robinson Crusoe and inspiration for Daniel Defoe's novel whilst neighbouring Earlsferry is said to be where MacDuff hid from Shakespeare's Macbeth. We stop in the traditional fishing village of Anstruther (known as 'Enster' locally) where you can check out its old cobbled streets and network of little alleyways and wynds or take a walk along the seafront to the harbour. From Anstruther we continue north to the medieval town of St Andrews. St Andrew is the patron Saint of Scotland, and according to legend his remains were washed up on the Fife coast. The shrine became a place of worship for Christian pilgrims from far and wide and the town developed into the religious capital of Scotland complete with a huge Norman Cathedral, the largest in all of Scotland. Founded in 1160 the Cathedral was devastated first by fire and later by zealous religious reformers but the ruins provide a fascinating insight into what it once must have been like. Today St Andrews attracts another type of pilgrim, being famous world-wide as the home of golf and the Mecca for all golfers - the 'Old Course'. The course, founded in 1754, is in beautiful condition and its emerald green grass contrasts with the golden sands of the beach nearby. St Andrews is also home to the oldest University in Scotland, at nearly 600 years old, and the third oldest in Britain behind Oxford and Cambridge. Also dating from this period is the town's once mighty castle which, perched on a rocky headland overhanging the sea, is a ruin with a violent and murderous past. Every street, every building is surrounded with history and we give you almost 3 hours to explore this amazing town. From St Andrews we take a pleasant drive through the rolling countryside of central Fife, with its small villages and patchwork of farms, to Falkland. Falkland Palace dominates this old village, and was one of the main residences of the old Royal family of Scotland, the Stewarts (Stuarts). Aside from the palace the village is simply one of the most beautiful in Scotland with an array of old cottages and narrow winding streets. You can take time to wander around the picturesque village or enjoy a drink in one of the village’s traditional pubs or tearooms. Leaving Falkland we cross the Lomond hills past Loch Leven, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned by her Protestant nobility. And then it is straight back to Edinburgh.

Montserrat Comience el recorrido desde Barcelona en un confortable autocar hacia las montañas de Montserrat, las cuales alcanzan majestuosamente la altura de 4,051 pies (1,236 metros). Las rocas de Montserrat son de un cemento natural de arena que durante siglos han sido modificadas por el viento y la lluvia, es por ello que tienen esa forma tan extraña y variada. La imaginación popular ha visto formas humanas o animales en alguno de sus picos, dándoles nombre e inventando leyendas para explicar su fantástico origen. Usted visitará la Real Basílica de Montserrat, la cual acoge la talla románica del siglo XII, la Verge Moreneta (la Virgen Negra). El santuario de Montserrat Benedicto fue fundado en el año 1025 y ofrece un telón de fondo místico de la Virgen de Montserrat, patrona de Cataluña, que está consagrado en la Real Basílica del monasterio. El pequeño monasterio pronto comenzó a recibir a peregrinos y visitantes que han contribuido a la difusión de historias de milagros y prodigios realizados por la Virgen. Hoy, Montserrat ha sido modernizada para seguir atendiendo las necesidades de los peregrinos mil años después de su fundación. La escolanía de Montserrat es uno de los coros de niños cantores más antiguos de Europa (S.XIV). Los días que hay canto podrán admirar sus magníficas actuaciones. El calendario de actuaciones está sujeto al calendario escolar y a eventos especiales de la escolanía y del monasterio.  El tour a Montserrat finalizará en la oficina de Julià Travel de la calle Balmes 5, en el centro de la ciudad, desde donde se comenzará también  la segunda parte del Tour. Barcelona Artística* Les llevaremos a conocer la Barcelona modernista,  gracias a unos de los grandes innovadores de su tiempo, Antoni Gaudí. Este famoso arquitecto dejó a su paso numerosos tesoros para descubrir por el turista exigente. Comenzaremos por la Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, obra maestra que Gaudí dejó inacabada, el monumento más famoso de Barcelona en donde realizaremos un recorrido a pie por su exterior, desde donde se advierte que sus bóvedas alcanzan hasta los sesenta metros de altura y están abundante y simbólicamente decoradas. Continuaremos el recorrido en dirección al fantástico Park Güell, el cual fue declarado monumento artístico y patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO. Tenga cuidado, ya que es fácil perderse en este diseño caprichoso, una perfecta integración de elementos arquitectónicos en la naturaleza. A continuación, nuestra visita continúa a pie por el Passeig de Gràcia, para admirar los famosos edificios de Gaudí como Casa Milà “La Pedrera” y la Casa Batlló, así como otros magníficos edificios modernistas.
