Travel through the Swan Valley to New Norcia, Australia’s only monastic town which is renowned for its Benedictine Abbey. Drive through the town and hear the local history before viewing the chapel and museum artefacts gifted to the monastery by Popes and Royalty of Spain. Visit the Famous Benedictine Community with a guided tour of the town and main sites including the museum and art gallery where you will find extraordinary artefacts dating back to when New Norcia was an Aboriginal mission.  Next we move on to the Abbey Church; home to one of only two large Moser organs, originally crafted in Germany, followed by a visit to St Gertrude’s College, a grand gothic style building which was originally built as a girl’s boarding school and opened in 1908. You then visit a produce shop selling olive oil, fruit, wine, New Norcia nut cake and breads before enjoying an included Fish and Chips lunch at the New Norcia Hotel. Following lunch you depart New Norcia for the iconic Swan Valley. The Swan Valley is the closest wine region to any capital city in Australia, whilst here take the opportunity to sample some of the regions famed providores offering such delights as chocolate, nougat and gourmet nuts. End the day with a gourmet personalised Australian Afternoon tea complete with wine before an early evening return to Perth.  Wildflower viewing stops are made in season. New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery A little piece of Spain comes alive in this town, full of history, art and architecture. The town’s main attraction is the museum and art gallery. In the museum you will find extraordinary artefacts dating back to when New Norcia was an Aboriginal mission, a hub for farming and a diverse town for education and culture. New Norcia Abbey Church and St Gertrude’s College The Abbey Church is home to one of only two large Moser organs, originally crafted in Germany, this organ was imported to Australia in the 1920s. Visit St Gertrude’s College, a grand gothic style building which was originally built as a girls boarding school and opened in 1908. New Norcia Hotel The New Norcia Hotel is an iconic landmark of the town filled with fascinating antique history. Whilst here enjoy a delicious fish and chips lunch with the opportunity to purchase a taster of the famous Abbey Ale. Swan Valley Wine Region The closest wine region to any capital city in Australia. The Swan Valley is world renowned for it’s long standing history in Western Australia’s wine industry, it is also commonly referred to as Perth’s Valley of Taste filled with a variety of providores offering such delights as chocolate, nougat and gourmet nuts. Wildflowers (Seasonal) Stop to view wildflowers throughout the tour whilst they are in season. Varieties include the orange flowering Christmas Tree, Kangaroo Paw, Banksia, Wattle and Everlastings.

Poliorama Theatre The Teatre Poliorama was inaugurated in 1906, it was built inside the building of “Real Academia de Ciencias y Artes” of Barcelona. Located in the heart of the Ramblas of Barcelona, one of the most famous and visited streets in the world, the Teatre Poliorama has always played a prominent role in the catalan cultural life. During the Spanish Civil War, seized by the CNT-FAI, was the scene of shootings carried out by members of the POUM and CNT that George Orwell described in his work “Homage to Catalonia”. A personal story of the writer about his participation in the conflict between the years of 1937 and 1938. The Teatre Poliorama is considered a classic of Las Ramblas and one of the main points of diffusion of culture in Barcelona. Program:

Everyone remembers where they were on September 11, 2001. An event that shook the world, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center changed the path of recent history in a way we still see every day. Visit Ground Zero to gain a deeper understanding of 9/11, the affect it had on the city (and the world!) and the long struggle undergone in New York City to move forward from that day.  With an expert local guide, you’ll explore not just the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, but the areas and landmarks around the World Trade Center that featured so poignantly in news reports after the attacks. Traveling in small groups, you’ll visit St. Paul’s Chapel, where friends and families gathered to hear news of their loved ones, and where handmade prayers and memorials still lie.  At Brookfield Place (previously known as the World Financial Center) you’ll learn about the economic effects of the attack and the struggle to rebuild afterwards. You’ll visit the Eleven Tears Memorial, a touching and personal memorial, which commemorates the 11 American Express employees that died in 9/11. The Winter Garden is another must-see on Vesey Street. You may have missed it on your own, but with a local guide leading the way, you won’t miss a beat.  After that we’ll head for Ground Zero, to see the stunning 9/11 Memorial Pools, each one built in the footprint of one of the twin towers, and inscribed with the names of all those who perished in the attack. Your guide will take this time to give you a more personal account of the tragedy that unfolded here, taking you to the Fireman’s Memorial and the Survivor Tree to tell you the incredible stories of courage and loss that unfolded right where you stand.  The last stop on our tour is one we’ll let you manage on your own. The 9/11 Museum is a very well curated space, with artifacts salvaged from the event on display, alongside countless personal stories. It’s a very moving visit, best taken in at your own pace in silence. We still have one last perk though – we’ve pre-reserved your museum tickets, so you’ll skip long lines to gain immediate access.
