Sometimes taking a stroll through Central Park feels like being in a timeless romantic film. Perhaps it’s the horse-drawn carriages and the tree-lined pathways. Or perhaps it’s the fact that, well, hundreds of movies have been shot in Central Park. The unique New York City walking tour through world-famous Central Park highlights more than 30 film and television locations that have been used in TV shows and movies shot in the most filmed location in the world, Central Park. This two-hour walking tour is a fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon strolling through what was the first public park built in America. There are 40 locations in all, which means that you’ll have ample opportunity to pose for the camera a la Holly Golightly. Led by actors and actresses, the New York tour of Central Park Movie Sites also showcases locations from Taxi Driver, Wall Street, Crocodile Dundee, The Producers, Godspell, Prisoner of Second Avenue, Independence Day, King of New York, Barefoot in the Park, The Way We Were, New York Stories, The Out of Towners, Little Manhattan, I’m Not Rappaport and many others. Visit other landmarks in the park such as The Carousel, Bow Bridge, Wollman Rink, Gapstow Bridge, The Dairy, Sheep’s Meadow, Cherry Hill, and the skyline of the Upper West Side. As you are traveling through Central Park on our guided sightseeing tour, you will see the stone Gapstow Bridge which is featured in Home Alone 2. Next you will be traveling to the Wollman Skating Rink, one of the two ice skating rinks located in the park. This rink was featured in Serendipity, Home Alone 2, Stepmom, The January Man and Love Story. After visiting the ice skating rink you will be heading to the most known attraction in Central Park, the Carousel. For just $2 you can enjoy the carousel ride where films such as The Producers, The Spanish Prisoner, Up the Sandbox and I’m not Rappaport were filmed. Next you will see a beautiful Victorian gothic building known as the Dairy, which is featured in Independence Day. The Mall, also known as the Promenade, is the next thing you will be walking through on this guided sightseeing  tour. You will definitely be able to tell why this area is so popular for socializing and relaxing. Movies such as Serendipity, Vanilla Sky, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Big Daddy and Kramer vs. Kramer all had scenes that were featured in the Promenade. After a stroll through the Promenade, you will spot the Bethesda Terrace, with the famous Bethesda Fountain located in the middle. As you are making your way through the crowd of people relaxing here you will be in the location where films such as Ransom, Godspell, Home Alone 2, Green Card, It Could Happen to You, Deconstructing Harry, Out of Towners, Prisoner of Second Avenue and Stuart Little II were filmed. The Bethesda Terra is also finale location for the big musical number, “That’s How You Know,” from Enchanted. Giselle (Amy Adams) questions Robert (Patrick Dempsey) on how he displays his affection for Nancy (Idina Menzel) and spontaneously starts the musical production number, with everyone in the park performing with her. Take a look at the huge twenty-two acre lake which is Central Park’s largest body of water, not including the Reservoir. On a warm day people will be participating in all kinds of water activities such as row boating. The Manchurian Candidate was featured at this famous lake. Although you won’t have enough time to eat at the Boathouse Restaurant on the walking tour you can surely stop and grab something to eat afterwards. This is the restaurant featured in films such as When Harry Met Sally, Sex and the City and Little Manhattan. At this point of the walking tour you will be situated mid-park at 74th street and making your way to the Bow Bridge. This cast iron bridge was featured in films such as Autumn in New York, Keeping the Faith, Little Manhattan, The Way We Were and Woody Allen's Manhattan. The bridge stretches over the lake and leads you right to Cherry Hill. Here you will notice beautiful cherry trees in the springtime and feel as if you were part of the scene where films such as The Mirror has Two Faces, Big Daddy, Cruel Intentions and Little Manhattan. Once you have toured Cherry Hill, the tour guides will take you to the cultural landmark, the Bandshell, featured in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I’m Not Rappaport, Mighty Aphrodite and Hair. You can stand where Martin Luther King and plenty of musicians stood to make speeches or conduct performances at this location. Next the tour will take you through Strawberry Fields. This area was dedicated to John Lennon in 1985 after his death in 1980. John Lennon’s death affected thousands of people and this small area in Central Park located on the West side between 71st and 74th street serves as a tribute to his life and music. This location was also featured in Little Manhattan. Next stop on the Central Park TV & Movie Sites Tour is the Sheep’s Meadow, a location used in Wall Street, It Could Happen to You, The Fisher King, Antz, and Little Manhattan. Although there are no longer any sheep hereyou will be passing my hundreds of people who relax, sunbathe, and play frisbee in this wonderful park. From this location you will be able to see The Dakota, which made its debut in Rosemary’s Baby and Vanilla Sky (and is also the site of John Lennon’s shooting). As you are approaching the end of the guided tour you will reach Tavern on the Green. This famous restaurant appeared in Ghostbusters, New York Stories, Wall Street, Made and The Out of Towners. The tour will end at Columbus Circle, where Taxi Driver, Keeping the Faith, Ghostbusters, Borat, Enchanted and Crocodile Dundee were shot. The tour guides are actors who have appeared as stand-ins or extras on the show and share little known facts and behind the scenes info. This one-of-a-kind tour is a “must” for any Sopranos fan. See where the mob hangs out! This is a great idea for bachelor parties in New York or New Jersey and for all fans of the Sopranos. You might even want to package it together with a dinner in Little Italy. From Manhattan to "Sopranoland" The tour of Sopranos Sites is based on the popular television show created by David Chase for HBO. The Sopranos stars James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, a New Jersey mafia boss. The television shows many successful seasons revolve around Tony Sopranos difficulties as he tries to balance his family life and running his criminal organization. The show gave a bird’s eye view into mob life and allowed viewers to see the inner workings of this New Jersey crime family. Season 1 and half of Season 2 were focused on Tony’s relationship with his mother Livia, played by Nancy Marchand. Ms. Marchand passed away half way through Season 2’s filming, which was eventually written into the story line. From that point on, Tony’s wife, Carmella (played by Edie Falco), his daughter Meadow (played by Jamie Lynn Siegler), along with his son AJ (played by Robert Iler) vie for Tony’s attention in between the dirty deals and beat downs that take place on a daily basis in this mob boss’ life. The tour begins in New York and starts out with sites from the opening credits, including the exit of the Lincoln Tunnel and the famous Manhattan skyline. As you arrive in Jersey, you’ll see more sites from the credits like The Muffler Man, Pizza Land, the Valley Landscape silo, a featured Tudor house, a building in the center of the Meadowlands that Tony often passes, and the ramp to the Pulaski Skyway seen at the end of every episode. The tour then hits some of the most recognizable places from The Sopranos: Barone Sanitation (Tony’s business), the Skyway Diner (where Christopher gets shot), Big Pussy’s auto body shop, and Satin Dolls, also known as the Bada Bing. The tour visits major sites that were used in filming the show such as Carmine’s Funeral Parlor; Party World and Car Wash; La Cibelle’s Restaurant, used as the locale for Nuovo Vesuvio, Artie Bucco’s (played by John Ventimiglia) restaurant in the show; Searchlight Diner; and St. Cecila’s Church, all of which were locations for majors scenes in the show. Get off the bus for a fun stop at Holsten’s (where the final scene of the last episode was shot) and enjoy complimentary onion rings just as you see Tony and his family indulging in in that final scene. Another major location for the television show, Satriale’s Pork Store, was a fictional establishment that was housed in an empty warehouse next to the Irish American Club in Kearny. The set was dismantled after the filming of the series concluded, and the building was torn down to make way for condominiums. More Sopranos filming locations include the back of Big Pussy’s house; the batting cages used by Pussy, AJ and Kevin; the Gold Driving Range where Tony takes his first Prozac; the marina where the Season 5 poster was photographed; Harrison High School where AJ vandalizes the pool; Seabra’s Rodizo, used as the Searchlight Diner where Pussy turns FBI informant; the statue of Christopher Columbus where the Sopranos get into a fight with the Native Americans; St. Cecilia’s (Carmela’s church); the funeral home used for Carmine’s wake; what’s left of the bakery where Christopher shot the guy in the foot; the Nuovo Vesuvio; the cemetery where Livia was buried, and many, many more. In the late 1800’s an influx of Italian immigrants created a Little Italy that wasn’t so little. Now, it is a bit smaller, with only a few thousand Italian-Americans calling Little Italy their home. However, the neighborhood has never lost its charm. Stop by Umberto’s Clam House, or Il Cortile to have a delicious lunch or dinner. Try La Mela for family style Italian or Grotta Azzura for upscale Italian. Skip dessert and grab some great cannoli over at Ferrara Bakery and Café. SKYDECK CHICAGO At 1,353 feet and 110 stories above the streets of downtown Chicago, The Ledge at the Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower) Skydeck will transform any visitor's--or local's for that matter--experience with the Windy City. In January 2009, Willis Tower owners began a major renovation of the beloved Skydeck, which originally opened in 1974, and served as a premier tourist attraction throughout the skyscraper's tenure as the Sears Tower. When ownership changed hands, the fresh blood added a fresh look--and adrenaline rush--to the 103rd floor in the form of retractable glass balconies extending about 4 feet over Wacker Drive and the Chicago River below. Still the 8th tallest building in the world, and the absolute tallest in the Western Hemisphere, Willis Tower's Skydeck draws 1.5 million people a year who are eager to ascend the 110-story, 1,454 foot (443 meter) building for awesome panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. Your journey to the top of the Willis Tower starts with a walk through an airport-style metal detector, followed by a slow elevator ride down to the waiting area where visitors queue for tickets. A sign will tell you how long you'll have to wait to get up high; this is a good time to confirm the visibility. Even days that seem sunny can have upper-level haze that limits the view. On good days, however, you can see for 40 to 50 miles (64 to 80 kilometers), as far as the states of Indiana, Michigan. Iowa, and Wisconsin. While you wait, you can watch a film about Willis Tower factoids. Then you'll wait a little longer before the ear-popping, 70 second elevator ride up to the 103rd floor deck. From here, the entire city stretches below, and you can see exactly how Chicago is laid out. Willis Tower, Skydeck, and The Ledge Fast Facts The hundreds of forehead prints visitors left behind each week on Skydeck windows served as this inspiration for The Ledge. The Ledge boxes can each bear about 4-1/2 metric tons of weight, and adventurers who trust that statistic enough to prove it can often be found jumping and bounding around the entirely translucent enclosures as Chicago's heavy traffic and infrastructure bustle below. The Ledge’s glass panels weight 1,500 pounds apiece, and each box is comprised of three layers of half-inch thick glass laminated into one seamless unit. In addition to serving 1.3 million tourists per year in its 4.5+ million square feet of space, Willis Tower is home to more than 100 companies, including prominent law, insurance, transportation, and financial services. The Ledge's glass boxes retract into the Skydeck main floor for easy maintenance, probably mostly cleaning off the 974 dead birds that must fly into them every month. The Moonwalk is the most popular dance performed on The Ledge, followed closely by the Running Man. Riverdance clocks in at a distant third. Bringing people who are afraid of heights to The Ledge is not recommended, unless you are mean-spirited or really don't like them. In which case, you should probably just take them here. Willis Tower was known as Sears Tower for decades, until the 30th anniversary of Diff'rent Strokes, at which point it was rightfully renamed   SHEDD AQUARIUM EXHIBITS AMPHIBIANS! Get ready for a toadally ribbiting experience! Shedd’s new special exhibit, Amphibians, hops into the aquarium May 16 and is included with admission. ​In Amphibians, you’ll meet 40 species of frogs, salamanders and rarely seen caecilians. We even have map turtles, in case you get lost. Caribbean Reef Take a 360-degree tour of an underwater reef community. Follow a green sea turtle. Peek at a moray eel in a rocky crevice. Watch regal rays glide by. Get eye-to-eye with parrot fish and sharks. Visit Caribbean Reef, Shedd’s award-winning 90,000-gallon circular habitat in the grand rotunda. Amazon Rising Take an exotic journey in the Amazon, home to one-third of all living things. Watch out for anacondas and piranhas, spiders, rays and a camouflaged caiman. In churning river channels, still lakes and even flooded treetops look for tetras, turtles and fruit-eating fish called tambaqui. Abbott Oceanarium The Abbott Oceanarium immerses you in the vibrant coastal ecosystem of beluga whales, Pacific white-sided dolphins, sea otters and sea lions. You’ll also find a host of fishes and invertebrates that make their homes where freshwater flows into the ocean or where tides turn seascapes to landscapes and back again each day. Use our self-guided map to discover how animals are linked to each other, their homes and you. Polar Play Zone Kids have a place at Shedd that they can call their own—Polar Play Zone. It’s cool as ice and twice as nice! The penguins think so, too. Play! Splash! Pretend! What would you like to be? A sleek sliding penguin? A deep-sea explorer? How about both? In Polar Play Zone, you can slip into a penguin suit and try being a bird in the Icy South play area. From there, head to the Icy North to explore the belugas’ Arctic waters in a kid-sized submarine. Don’t forget to shake hands—or is it arms?—with colorful sea stars in the touch pools. In Polar Play Zone, you’ll learn about polar opposites—big and small, fast and slow, shallow and deep, even north and south—while you play.
