Description:
If you only have one day to see the wonders of the Amalfi Coast, the Pompeii Tour from Rome with Amalfi Cost Drive is the perfect all-in-one day trip for you. It’s a beautiful combination of history, archeology, stunning views, world-class food, and even a little shopping.
You will be picked up in central Rome in an air-conditioned mini-bus, the most comfortable way to navigate the jaw-dropping cliff drive that awaits us. When the tour arrive in Pompeii, you will skip the lines and be met by an expert, English-speaking guides who have dedicated their lives to studying Pompeii. As they walk you through the shops, temples, public baths, and houses that made up the thriving city, they’ll recount the fascinating stories of life in the ancient city; and how it was decimated by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
The tour will also visit the famous plaster death casts of unfortunate people caught in the eruption and, if appropriate for the group, an ancient brothel. After Pompeii, it’s back into the bus for one of the most unforgettable drives of your life down the hairpin turns and panoramic vistas of the Amalfi coast. It won’t take long for you to see why this is considered Italy’s most scenic drive (although certainly not the easiest to navigate - you’ll be glad you have a driver!). Along the way your guide will enrich the journey with some background on the area’s history and culture, teaching you what life is like at the foot of the world’s most dangerous volcano. After your guide gives you background on the history and culture of the area, you’ll arrive in the lovely Positano.
Following in the footsteps of literary greats like Shelley, Goethe and Steinbeck, you’ll be free to explore this little town on foot, sampling its incredible seafood, browsing the fashionable boutiques, or ordering bespoke, handmade sandals. Trying to see the sights of the Amalfi Coast on your own is a notorious hassle with lines, traffic, and all those hair-pin turns. This tour takes out the stress and distills it into an unforgettable day trip of culture, history, and archaeology. In a group or 15 people or fewer, you will have intimate access to your expert tour guide who will not only ensure that you get where you want to go, but also make the coast come alive with the stories of its past.
In good weather it is possible (and enjoyable) to swim on Positano beach. It is recommend to bring a bathing suit and towel if this interests you.
In the winter months the tour might replace Positano with Sorrento as more shops and restaurants are open there during this time.
Important Information:
If you are traveling with luggage and would like to use this as a transfer to Positano, please contact us before booking this service. Please note that lunch is not included in this service. You will have free time to eat at Positano and your guide will be happy to recommend places to eat a full sit-down meal or to grab something quick while shopping.
Please note that the order of sites visited is subject to changes.
If this is a once-in-a-lifetime visit to the Grand Canyon or a return visit, your interpretive guide will leave you with an experience of discovery and wonder few will ever know. The history, its dramatic geology, wildlife and the extraordinary landscape of this natural wonder are revealed through stories, facts and legend. We’ll make several stops while we travel along the stunning South Rim, ending at Grandview Point, witnessing some of the most expansive, gorgeous, and magnificent vistas ever experienced!
Everyone remembers where they were on September 11, 2001. An event that shook the world, the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center changed the path of recent history in a way we still see every day. Visit Ground Zero to gain a deeper understanding of 9/11, the affect it had on the city (and the world!) and the long struggle undergone in New York City to move forward from that day. With an expert local guide, you’ll explore not just the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, but the areas and landmarks around the World Trade Center that featured so poignantly in news reports after the attacks. Traveling in small groups, you’ll visit St. Paul’s Chapel, where friends and families gathered to hear news of their loved ones, and where handmade prayers and memorials still lie. At Brookfield Place (previously known as the World Financial Center) you’ll learn about the economic effects of the attack and the struggle to rebuild afterwards. You’ll visit the Eleven Tears Memorial, a touching and personal memorial, which commemorates the 11 American Express employees that died in 9/11. The Winter Garden is another must-see on Vesey Street. You may have missed it on your own, but with a local guide leading the way, you won’t miss a beat. After that we’ll head for Ground Zero, to see the stunning 9/11 Memorial Pools, each one built in the footprint of one of the twin towers, and inscribed with the names of all those who perished in the attack. Your guide will take this time to give you a more personal account of the tragedy that unfolded here, taking you to the Fireman’s Memorial and the Survivor Tree to tell you the incredible stories of courage and loss that unfolded right where you stand. The last stop on our tour is one we’ll let you manage on your own. The 9/11 Museum is a very well curated space, with artifacts salvaged from the event on display, alongside countless personal stories. It’s a very moving visit, best taken in at your own pace in silence. We still have one last perk though – we’ve pre-reserved your museum tickets, so you’ll skip long lines to gain immediate access. We’ve kept our groups small for this tour to ensure a level of intimacy and peace that’s fitting for such a visit, and have chosen only the best local guides to give your tour a more personal feel, giving the 9/11 Memorial and its surrounds a more human context. Trip style: Local LIfe & Culture, History & Heritage Language Tour: English Full Itinerary Give Detroit the attention it deserves on this Detroit walking tour that shows you everything you absolutely need to see in this awesome American city. Meet your local guide at a cafe on Broadway, and take a walk around the nearby area which includes spots such as Foxtown, Madison Avenue, and Paradise Valley. You'll see the fabulous Fox Theater, Comerica Park (which is home of the Detroit Tigers) the beautiful Detroit Opera House, and several other Detroit highlights - the perfect way to familiarise yourself with the city. Next on your Detroit city tour, take a quick ride over to the popular Greektown district on the elevated train called the 'People Mover'. In Greektown, you can taste a super-sweet piece of baklava, see a casino, or visit a historic church that was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Hopefully during our time in Greektown you'll get to see a waiter light some liquor on fire over a piece of cheese, a classic Greek tradition. Opa! Another ride on the People Mover leads to a stop in the Civic Center area. Here you will see some famous Detroit sculptures, and have a view of the massive Renaissance Center, home to the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere. You'll also be able to give our friends in Canada a wave from here! Next on this Detroit tour, we visit the 1929 art-deco Guardian Building to see the remarkably-beautiful lobby and banking room. It cannot be denied that this is one of the most beautiful buildings in Detroit, and may even be one of the most gorgeous you see on your travels in the US - seriously! Walk by another landmark, the 47-story Penobscot Building, to American and Lafayette Coney Island restaurants, where you can try a free 'coney dog' - a grilled hot dog with Detroit-style chili, mustard and onions. Detroiters have been devouring them for more than 90 years, so to get into the local spirit we suggest that you give it a go! Our last stop on this Detroit walking tour by seeing a famous renovated hotel which originally opened in 1924, and then we'll finish up with a ride on the People Mover back to Broadway.
