Der kompakte Controller besitzt neben einem USB-MIDI Port auch herkömmliche MIDI Buchsen zum Anschluss an Mac, PC und MIDI Hardware Geräten. Dank der Räder für Pitch und Modulation, den Octave Up/Down Tasten und dem zuweisbaren Data Fader ermöglicht der Q49 den Zugriff auf wichtige Klangparameter. Mit den Tasten lassen sich Programmwechselbefehle senden. Der Q49 wird zu einem erschwinglichen Preis angeboten und lässt sich im Homestudio und auf der Bühne einsetzen. Die intuitive Programmoberfläche lädt zum Experimentieren ein, mit dem intelligenten MIDI Chord- und Phrasen-Playern können Performances zusätzlich bereichert werden. Direkt nach der Installation stehen 275 hochwertige Instrumentensounds von AIR Music Technology  zur Verfügung, darunter Pianos, Synthleads, Percussion und mehr. Ist der Track fertiggestellt, kann er direkt auf SoundCloud hochgeladen werden, um ihn mit andern Musikern oder einem größeren Publikum zu teilen. Alternativ lassen sich mit Ignite WAV, MP3 und MIDI Dateien exportieren, um sie anschließend mit einer anderen DAW Software weiterzubearbeiten. Controller von Alesis werden direkt von Ignite erkannt, ein umständliches Setup ist nicht notwendig.
