Nimmt die Wärme langsam ab, wird ein wesentlicher Vorteil gegenüber der mit Wasser gefüllten Wärmeflasche deutlich: Die Kirschsteine kühlen nicht so stark aus wie das Wasser. Bei maximal 100° C für ca. 5–10 Minuten im Backofen (Heißluft) aufheizen. Anwendung als Kältekompresse: Im Kühlschrank oder Gefrierfach lassen sich die Kirschsteine entsprechend kühlen.
