The first tea party was held at the Hall in 1912. The tradition continues today in the Hall's Verdi Restaurant The Royal Albert Hall Grand Tour is fully accessible.  Some time slots and/or dates are unavailable due to events taking place in the auditorium. The Royal Albert Hall was built to fulfil the vision of Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's consort) of a 'Central Hall' that would be used to promote understanding and appreciation of the Arts and Sciences and would stand at the heart of the South Kensington estate, surrounded by museums and places of learning. The Hall is a Grade I Listed building; and has been in continuous use since it was opened in March 1871. It was always conceived as a multipurpose building to host not only concerts of music but exhibitions, public meetings, scientific conversations and award ceremonies. It is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and is financially self sufficient, receiving no funding from central or local government. Kensington Palace and the Diana Exhibition Kensington Palace unveils a palace of secret stories and public lives. Visitors arrive through beautiful landscaped gardens evoking a past when Kensington was countryside. From the entrance hall start your journey through the magnificent Kings and Queen’s State Apartments. Filled with stories of two royal courts; the Stuarts and the Hanoverians, learn what you would have worn, how you should behave and how to succeed in the heady atmosphere of the palace state apartments. The Queen's State Apartments Explore these intimate, private rooms created for Queen Mary II, who ruled jointly with her husband, King William III, in the 17th century.  The Queen’s rooms The Queen's Staircase, little changed since its construction in 1690, is deliberately plainer than the King's. Mary would have glided down its steps to reach her beloved gardens, created in the Dutch style, through the door at its foot. Diana: Her Fashion Story ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ will trace the evolution of the Princess’s style, from the demure, romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamour, elegance and confidence of her later life. From her earliest royal engagements, everything Diana wore was closely scrutinised, and the exhibition will explore how she navigated her unique position in the public eye: learning to use her image to engage and inspire people, and to champion the causes she cared about. Discover exquisite and celebrated outfits from throughout the Princess’s public life. The exhibition will bring together an extraordinary collection of garments, ranging from the glamorous evening gowns worn on engagements in the 1980s, to the chic Catherine Walker suits that made up Diana’s ‘working wardrobe’ in the 1990s. The Princess’s relationship with her favourite designers will be explored through a display of some of their original fashion sketches, created for her during the design process. Exhibition highlights will include the pale pink Emanuel blouse worn for Diana’s engagement portrait by Lord Snowdon in 1981, and Victor Edelstein’s iconic ink blue velvet gown, famously worn at the White House when the Princess danced with John Travolta. A blue tartan Emanuel suit, worn for an official visit to Venice in the 1980s, will go on display in public for the first time. The suit, a rare survival of the Princess’s daywear, was only recently rediscovered and acquired by Historic Royal Palaces – the charity responsible for Kensington Palace - at auction.  * Please note, this exhibit is due to be very popular, queues are to be expected.

Windsor Castle – ein gigantisches Schloss  Mit mehr als 1000 Zimmern, 4500 Quadratmetern Wohnfläche gehört das Windsor Castle zu den größten Gebäuden der Welt. 13Hektar beträgt die gesamte Größe des Grundstücks. Wilhelm der Eroberer erbaute die Burg nach der Schlacht in der Normandie zunächst aus Holz im Stil einer Motte (Holzburg). Im Jahr 1100 bezog Heinrich der VII die Räumlichkeiten. Er erweiterte die Burg, ersetzte das Holz durch Stein und funktionierte das Gemäuer zu seinem Königspalast um. Heimat zahlreicher Monarchen Einige der berühmtesten Monarchen Englands, darunter Heinrich VIII. und sein Vater Heinrich VII., die auch in der Schlosskirche ihre ewige Ruhe fanden, bewohnten Windsor Castle. Bis heute hatten insgesamt haben 39 englische Royals ihren offiziellen Wohnsitz im Palast. Windsor Castle war die Lieblingsresidenz von Königin Victoria und ihrem Ehemann Prinz Albert. Nach dessen Tod trug Victoria nur noch Schwarz und wurde vom Volk als die Witwe von Windsor bezeichnet. Heute ist das Schloss die Heimat von Königin Elizabeth II und wird jedes Jahr während der Osterzeit von der Königin und ihrem Ehemann Prinz Philip bewohnt. Zusammen mit dem Holyrood Palace ist das Schloss ist auch die Residenz der Königin an freien Wochenenden.   Besuchen Sie Windsor Castle Das Schloss ist das ganze Jahr über für Besucher geöffnet. Es öffnet um 09:30 Uhr und schließt um 17:30 Uhr. In den Wintermonaten (November bis Februar) öffnet das Schloss etwas später um 09:45 Uhr und schließt um 16:15 Uhr. Die Wachablösung findet jeden Morgen zwischen 11:00 und 11:30 Uhr statt. Schlossführungen sind gerade in den Sommermonaten sehr beliebt und dauern in der Regel zwei bis drei Stunden. Das Highlight im Jahr 2018: Die königliche Hochzeit Am 19. Mai 2018 fand im Windsor Castle die königliche Hochzeit von Prinz Harry und seiner Braut Megan Markle statt. Die Hochzeit wurde in der St. George's Chapel abgehalten. Die Kapelle wurde ursprünglich im 14. Jahrhundert von Edward dem VIII. erbaut, bevor sie im 15. Jahrhundert großzügig erweitert wurde. In der Kapelle finden jetzt mehr als 800 Gäste Platz und sie war Schauplatz vieler königlicher Hochzeiten, Taufen und Beerdigungen. Die Hochzeit von Prinz Charles von Wales und Camilla Parker Bowles, sowie der Taufe von Prinz Harry waren bedeutende Ereignisse der jüngeren Vergangenheit. Im Herbst 2018 wird in der Kapelle auch die Hochzeit von Prinzessin Eugenie und Jack Brooksbank stattfinden.

After departing San Francisco, you’ll head through California’s capital city, Sacramento, through the Sierra foothills and into the famous Gold Rush Country, cresting a high mountain pass within the Sierra Nevada. Then we’ll wind our way through large pine forests, before dramatically descending into South Lake Tahoe. Afternoon:  In the evening, we’ll settle into our centrally located hotel and then head out to happy hour with the Apres Ski crowd at the base of Heavenly Mountain Resort before a comfy night’s rest.   SAMPLE ITINERARY – DAY 2 (FRIDAY) SOUTH LAKE TAHOE: CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE All Day:  While masses of people are piling into their cars to head to the mountains, you’ll be on the first lift up to carve the groomers, or to get fresh tracks in that Heavenly powder! Don’t worry if you’re not really into skiing, our guides will offer the opportunity to go out on a fabulously scenic drive on the mountain roads surrounding Lake Tahoe, or maybe even a snowshoe adventure! If you’re really just here for the casinos, they’re open 24 hours, and you’re welcome to see if Lady Luck is on your side all day if you like! Don’t want to miss out on any of it? No problem, we’re flexible: our guides know their stuff, and we’ll help you fit in a scenic drive in the morning, get yourself a half day ticket on the mountain, and then hit the casinos all night long!   SAMPLE ITINERARY – DAY 3 (SATURDAY) SOUTH LAKE TAHOE TO SQUAW VALLEY & TRUCKEE, CA Morning:  We’ll hit the road early this morning and head toward historic Tahoe City taking in views of Emerald Bay before heading toward the famous Squaw Valley Resort. If you’re heading up onto this epic ski and snowboarding destination today, you’ll be glad if you dusted off the cobwebs on Heavenly yesterday. This place is the real deal, where you can often see extreme athletes pushing the envelope, soaring from the cliffs as you ride up the famous KT-22 Express. Make sure you bring your swimsuit too: the High Camp Pool and Hot Tub high on the resort is open for business…all winter long! This side of the lake also offers amazing snowshoeing or cross country skiing opportunities as well. Once again, you’ll be offered the choice to head up on the ski hill, or we’ll take you out on the trails through Stanislaus National Forest or maybe a snowshoe hike near the Donner Memorial State Park and explore the history of the ill-fated pioneers of the Donner Party as they struggled to travel west in their wagons and became stranded in the winter of 1846-47.
