The delivery of the air supply system includes: the compressor, the matching double valve, as well as the suction hose and filter. The components mentioned are already preassembled on a stainless steel plate. This corresponds exactly to the fitting of the original and can be put into operation immediately thanks to the simple plug & play procedure. In addition, the corresponding relay is also included. This must be replaced when changing the air supply system and is located in the trunk, under the spare wheel well. To counteract a compressor malfunction due to overheating, the BMW 5 Series E61 monitors the air supply system with a time control in the vehicle system; however, if the compressor relay is defective, the shutdown won't work properly, causing the compressor to overheat and suffer irreparable damage. For this reason, the replacement of the corresponding relay is essential. The relay is included in the delivery. In addition, when changing the air-supply system it is also important to inspect both air springs for leakage; otherwise, the system may be damaged again.
