Day 1 You leave Edinburgh and head north across the River Forth towards the Highlands. You make a short stop in one of the quintessential Scottish towns bordering the highland fault line, before crossing into the Cairngorms National Park. There are numerous options on route including a famous whisky distillery, stunning caledonian forest walks, ancient standing stones, world-changing battlefields, and beautiful lochs. What you do today will be decided by your group and the ever- changing Scottish climate. Ample time for lunch will be given en route. You then continue north and arrive in Inverness, where you’re dropped off at your accommodation. The evening is free for you to explore the capital of the Highlands. Day 2 After a leisurely breakfast you’re picked up from your accommodation and taken into the surrounding countryside. You travel to Loch Ness where you have the chance to take a boat trip along the loch or stay on shore and visit the impressive ruins of Urquhart castle overlooking the loch. Our journey continues south through the Great Glen past Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in UK and Fort William. You stop for lunch along the way before arriving in Glencoe. The return journey continues over the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and into the lowland scenery around Stirling, before finally reaching our starting point of Edinburgh.

The first stop is Holy Island, connected to the mainland by a causeway which leads into the quaint island village of Lindisfarne, where there are stunning views of Lindisfarne Castle* (dating back to 1550). Spend time wandering through the ruins of its Priory* where the magnificent Lindisfarne Gospels were produced, sample some of the world-famous Lindisfarne ‘Mead’ brewed by Monks on the island, and enjoy the tranquility for which the island is renowned.  Then continue south by the pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, “Ancient Capital of Northumbria,” overlooked by its imposing castle, then on to the bustling market town of Alnwick, whose greatest building is the medieval Alnwick Castle*. Enjoy time in the town centre or visit the castle complex where there is something for everyone. Home of the Percy Family for over 700 years, Alnwick Castle is considered one of the finest castles in England and is proudly known as “The Windsor of the North”. Visitors can step into the unexpected in the spectacular Alnwick Garden* with its Grand Cascade fountain and Poison Gardens. The castle grounds were also used in the Harry Potter films. In the mid-afternoon we begin the drive north to cross the River Tweed and back into Scotland at the historic border town of Coldstream. If time permits during this journey there will be a stop at Flodden Field, one of the best preserved battlefields in Northern Europe and scene of the infamous battle of 1513, which ended in victory for the English and the death of James IV, King of Scots.  *OPTIONAL EXTRA. The starting point of this open-top bus tour is at Larcomar, Bus Stop 1. Make sure you check out the shopping centre nearby before you get on to one of our buses, you'll find so many shops there for everyone's tastes. We'll pick you up straight from the bus stop at Larcomar. Don't worry, you won't miss our buses, they're bright red, London style buses with an open top roof! First up at Bus Stop 2 you'll see Parque Kennedy and it's beautiful surroundings, located right in the heart of the Miraflores district. Next up is the historical landmark Huaca Pucllana at Bus Stop 3. Here you'll see pre-Incan pyramids up close, all of which are still very much intact, right in the city centre.  We'll drive you straight through the Plaza Grau at Bus Stop 4 where you'll be able to take in the vibrant energy and witness the monument in the centre, a sculpture that stands over 20 metres tall, created by the Spanish sculptor, Victorio Macho. We'll take a peaceful drive through Plaza Mayor, also known as the Plaza de Armas and you'll be able to see some of the most spectacular buildings in Lima, including the Government Palace and the Municipal Palace of Lima.
