The old port in Fira is accessible only: By cable car: It is perfectly safe, it consists of 6 wagons and has capacity of 6 persons per wagon. During high season (April-October) it runs every 20 minutes. Single tickets cost €5 for adults and €2.50 for children. On foot: You would need to walk down the famous 600 steps of the traditional road that connects the old port with the town of Fira. The descend takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on your physical condition. By donkey: The donkeys used to be the traditional transportation way of the island. They go up and down to the old port of Fira frequently. A single ride costs around €5 per person and takes about 20 minutes. Most people prefer to take the donkey on their way up.

Leaving Glasgow you will head north-west through the rugged Highlands of Scotland until you reach Inveraray, a quaint town built in the mid-18th century on the shores of Loch Fyne. Here you can choose to visit Inveraray Castle* the historic home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell, nestled in large beautiful gardens overlooking Loch Fyne. Alternatively, explore the town’s white-washed Georgian houses, wide streets and breathtaking views across the loch.  Your route climbs further north into the Highlands through stunning scenery marked by several dramatic castles and beautiful lochs. You'll pause to admire Kilchurn Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, nestled on the banks of Loch Awe and beautifully framed by mountains.  Next you will make a stop for lunch in the picturesque harbour town of Oban, ‘Gateway to the Isles’, with free time to explore its horseshoe bay and see MacCaig’s Folly, an iconic 19th century tower reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome.  After free time exploring, we travel onwards past the 15th century Castle Stalker, which is set on a small island on Loch Laich, before reaching Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most haunting glens and site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan.  The return journey will take you over the dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount before you make the final stop at the pretty conservation village of Luss on the ‘Bonnie, Bonnie Banks’ of Loch Lomond. Here you can feel free to walk along the shore or admire the village before returning to Glasgow.  *OPTIONAL EXTRA. Activation of your Paris Pass Your Paris Pass is activated the first time that you use it, but to begin using it you must first sign and date the Paris Pass, Paris Museums and Monuments Pass and the Paris Visite Travelcard. In addition you must write the serial number of the Paris Visite Travelcard on the ticket that is passed through the ticket machine. The card and ticket must be kept together at all times and both must be shown in the case of inspection. Validity of your Paris Pass After activation your Paris Pass remains valid for the duration that you have purchased. It is valid on consecutive days and at the end of the validity period, will no longer entitle you to free entry at attractions or transport. If for example, you used a four day pass for the first time on Monday, your pass will cease working at the end of Thursday, regardless of how often you have used it in between. It is important to note that a ‘day’ is based on a calendar day, so should you use your pass at 4pm on Monday, Monday is counted as day one of your pass usage.

Start your day trip to the East Algarve with a hotel pickup, and then travel by air-conditioned coach to the pretty town of Almancil, roughly 8 miles (13km) northwest of Faro. Head inside the town’s crowning glory, the beautiful Church of St Lourenço (Igreja de São Lourenço de Matos), and marvel at its stunning blue-and-white wall tiles while exploring. The tiles depict the story of St Lourenço who used money from the Catholic Church to pay for the poor until he was caught by the Romans. Continue to Faro, the Algarve’s capital, for a walking tour of its elegant Old Town. Amble around the charming cobblestone streets and see the Arc da Vila, a monument that was commissioned to mark the entrance to the Old Town after a devastating earthquake in 1755.
