From Edinburgh you will travel west, passing the imposing Stirling Castle, high on its volcanic rock, and on to a visit at Doune Castle* (which featured in the cult movie ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’). From there journey into the Highlands, past Loch Lubnaig and up through impressive Glen Ogle, a steep glen that stretches for 7 miles, stopping nearby for lunch and beautiful views of the surrounding scenery.  After lunch venture further into the Highlands, stopping to view one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, Kilchurn Castle, nestled on the banks of beautiful Loch Awe and stunningly framed by the surrounding mountains. You will then journey to Inveraray, a small quaint town built in the mid-18th century on the shore of Loch Fyne.  Here we have time to explore the town and pick up some Highland souvenirs or pay an optional visit to Inveraray Castle*, the historic home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell, which is set in large beautiful gardens overlooking Loch Fyne.  You then start your homeward journey, driving over the Arrochar Alps, an attractive range of mountains, with a brief pause near the top of the Rest and Be Thankful Pass. A little later we reach enchanting Loch Lomond, where you can stop at the pretty lochside village of Luss before returning to Edinburgh.  *OPTIONAL EXTRA. In good weather, we can have lunch next to the cliffs. Another inviting option is to head to the charming village of Doolin for lunch. Doolin is a charming village with excellent food options. Try the seafood! Our journey then takes us to the limestone wonder called The Burren, which is a rocky yet fertile landscape for plants and flowers. Colourful flowers have burst through the clints and grikes of this limestone pavement, making it a truly unique location and a thriving ecosystem. Some varieties of flowers can only be found in this region. Navigate the rocky surface as you explore the Burren’s landscape. After we’ve strolled around the Burren, we will visit the historic vibrant city of Galway. A former convent and theatre, the Liceu hasn't always resembled the opera house we see today. Its history is full of ups and downs and mysteries that make this cultural icon a key venue which we invite you to discover on a guided tour of the building. You'll walk through its most representative areas, starting with the historic lobby, in the eclectic Catalan Renaixement style. From there, you'll continue to the auditorium, an exact replica of the impressive horseshoe-shaped hall designed by the architect Miquel Garriga i Roca in 1847. You'll go up to the Hall of Mirrors, an imposing room with a ceiling decorated with allegorical paintings and texts referring to art and music. You'll discover the new foyer, the area where people used to relax during the interval and currently a multi-purpose room which hosts small-scale performances. You can also visit the Cercle del Liceu, a private club and one of the most important examples of Catalan and Spanish art nouveau.
