Die Rebsorte Pinot Noir prägt das Aromenprofil dieses Schaumweins. Er reift teilweise bis 24 Monate auf der Hefe. Tiefgründiger, roter Lehm auf Granitverwitterung. Der 1814 in Stuttgart geborene Schwabe Robert Schlumberger begegnete auf einer Rheinfahrt seiner späteren Frau Sophie, gab seine Stelle in Reims auf und begann schon 1842 in Wien seine in der Champagne erworbenen Kenntnisse im eigenen Betrieb umzusetzen. Der Erfolg liess nicht auf sich warten. Für seine Verdienste in der Weinbereitung wurde er sogar vom Kaiser in den Adelsstand erhoben. Helles Lachsrosa, kräftiges Mousseux, feiner Duft von delikaten roten Waldfrüchten und Stachelbeeren, im Geschmack reintönig und finessenreich, weicher, samtiger Eindruck, zartsüsslicher Abgang. Gut gekühlt bei 10 Grad Celsius auf sommerlicher Terrasse als Aperitif, zu Austern, Schalentieren und gebratenem Süsswasserfisch. Trinkempfehlung: bis 2009.
