Take to the streets of New York with a local expert guide to explore neighborhoods once home to notorious criminals, learn how the city was ruled in waves by various immigrant crime rings and finding out what modern crime looks like in the city. On the Lower East Side, you’ll see tenement buildings where Irish immigrants lived in subhuman conditions. The most notorious area here was the ‘Five Points’ - a junction so infamous for its gang crime (rumor has it some even lived in burrows under the streets!) that Charles Dickens came to check it out himself on a trip to NYC, not believing it could live up to its reputation. It did, of course, as your guide will tell you. Irish gangs weren’t the only group to terrorise the Lower East Side however. Throughout the 1900s the Italian mafia kept Little Italy in a choke hold, while the 1970s and 1980s were dominated by Chinese turf wars that were so bloody you’ll hardly believe the stories. From the city’s earliest rag-tag gangs to the mafia empires of the 20th century, you’ll separate the truth from from  myths popularized by movies like Gangs of New York and TV shows like The Sopranos. You’ll also learn about the city’s most notorious criminals; from Captain Kidd and Boss Tweed, to John Gotti and Leona Helmsley. The neighborhoods you visit are much nicer today than they were in the past but has NYC really cleaned up its act? As part of your tour, you’ll visit lower Manhattan, in particular Wall Street and the Financial District, to learn about modern, white collar crime (and the going rate for a get-out-of-jail-free card). New York City crime tours don’t get any better than when they are developed with the help of NYPD police officers and detectives. What if it rains? Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is an open-air and all-weather event The venue, audience seating, and the stage are completely uncovered. The event is an all-weather experience and Opera Australia is committed to going ahead with a performance of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour even in doubtful or unfavourable weather conditions. Please come prepared so that you are as comfortable as possible, and ready to support the performers, who will carry on singing in the rain. Bring warm and waterproof clothing Sydney weather is full of surprises so we recommend that you dress with this in mind and bring warm, weatherproof clothing. Please note that although umbrellas can be brought to the venue, out of consideration for other members of the audience they cannot be used during the performance. Ponchos Ponchos will be available to purchase at the event for $5.00. We'll be selling the Biowear Eco Poncho. Made of corn, soy, and sunflower starches, these ponchos are biodegradable. Once disposed of, the poncho takes about a year to break down and become a protein of the ecosystem. We'll be donating any profit from the sale of ponchos to Clean Up Australia. Performance pauses and cancellations We will only cancel a performance during electrical storms (within 10km radius) or during times of extremely high winds and/or rain. The decision to cancel a performance is not made until 19.30 or later and a cancellation may be called during the performance. So please plan to travel to the venue for a 19.30 performance start time even in unfavourable weather conditions.  In some weather conditions La Bohème may have a delayed start time or be paused for up to 50 minutes at any point throughout the performance.  Auxiliary expenses including travel, accommodation or hospitality which you have arranged in conjunction with the performance are at your own risk and not refundable by Opera Australia. What do I wear? The weather is full of surprises so we recommend that you dress with this in mind and bring warm, weatherproof clothing. Please note that although umbrellas can be brought to the venue, out of consideration for other members of the audience they cannot be used during the performance. Are there subtitles? La Bohème is sung in Italian with English and Simplified Chinese subtitles. Can I purchase food and drinks at the venue? A range of food and beverages will be available at the venue from 17.00 and menus will be available closer to the date.

Your safety is paramount at Forestal Park and you will receive a full safety briefing on all the safety rules and mechanisms you will need at the park. You will also receive a full set of personal protective equipment. No special level of physical fitness is required and there are activities for all ages and physical abilities. So come and spend a day jam-packed with adventure, sports, nature and fun for the whole family. The maximum capacity of visitors to the park at a certain time is 110 adults and 30 children (in this case six to nine years) at the same time so the park is never too crowded. The time for the sports circuit is between two-and-a-half to three hours. And for the family circuit about two hours. You can enjoy only one circuit and the price is the same price for both the sporting circuit (participants must be at least 1.45 metres tall) and the family circuit (participants must be at least 1.10 metres in height). Children: 1.10 metres, minimum height six to 12 years inclusive.
