This design is inspired by the Victorian practice of, as it were, honouring plants by painting them rather carefully and them framing the result in an elaborate border, especially as it relates to those which have therapuetic value. Amongst which, depicted here are: echinacea, ginkgo, gardenia and camellia. This piece was designed with an Italian printed house and printed in Italy. We wanted superior definition to show of all the little, fascinating details in the design and to make a feature of the rather subtle palette of soft varied blues, from Prussian through royal blue to cyan, madder pinks, carmine, ochre and radiant greys.
