Das Material Hilafilcon B, aus dem die weichen sauerstoffdurchlässigen Linsen gefertigt sind, hat einen besonders hohen Wassergehalt von 59 %. Da mit jedem Blinzeln die Oberfläche neu benetz wird, kann die Netzhaut immer mit ausreichend Sauerstoff versorgt werden. Ablagerungen können vermieden werden und die Linsen sind besonders gut verträglich. Aufgrund ihrer stabilen Form ist die Linse für Kontaktlinseneinsteiger wie auch für erfahrene Kontaktlinsenträger gut geeignet. Die empfohlene Tragezeit der SOFLENS 59 beträgt 30 Tage.
