La capilla de construyó en el 1.299 para albergar una estatua de madera de la Virgen María que se veneraba allí. Aun se pueden ver las ruinas del castillo, y las fechas de 1655 y 1785 están inscritas en la puerta de entrada, lo que demuestra que el sitio se amplió a medida que se hizo más popular como un lugar de peregrinación.
