A former convent and theatre, the Liceu hasn't always resembled the opera house we see today. Its history is full of ups and downs and mysteries that make this cultural icon a key venue which we invite you to discover on a guided tour of the building. You'll walk through its most representative areas, starting with the historic lobby, in the eclectic Catalan Renaixement style. From there, you'll continue to the auditorium, an exact replica of the impressive horseshoe-shaped hall designed by the architect Miquel Garriga i Roca in 1847. You'll go up to the Hall of Mirrors, an imposing room with a ceiling decorated with allegorical paintings and texts referring to art and music. You'll discover the new foyer, the area where people used to relax during the interval and currently a multi-purpose room which hosts small-scale performances. You can also visit the Cercle del Liceu, a private club and one of the most important examples of Catalan and Spanish art nouveau.

En su parque adyacente inaugurado en 1996 se exhiben distintas especies vegetales endémicas de la isla como cardones, tabaibas, palmeras o tilos.  Situada en las faldas del Teide, La Orotava ocupa buena parte del valle de mismo nombre en el norte de la isla. Gran parte del Parque Nacional del Teide –,montaña y sitio de culto aborigen–, pertenece a su municipio, lo que lo convierte en el de mayor altitud de España. Entre los lugares de interés que se pueden visitar en esta ciudad destacan la Iglesia de la Concepción (declarada Monumento Nacional), La Casa de los Balcones –,vivienda típica canaria del siglo XVII–, o el Liceo de Taoro.  Candelaria es la sede de la Virgen de Candelaria, patrona de Canarias, distinguido lugar sagrado y de peregrinaje del país situado al sureste de la isla. Sus fiestas patronales tienen lugar el 15 de agosto y se desarrollan en torno a la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria (1959), Bien de Interés Cultural y uno de los principales templos del archipiélago. Junto a la basílica, la Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias alberga las estatuas de bronce de los nueve menceyes que gobernaron los nueve menceyatos o reinos prehistóricos guanches de Tenerife justo antes de la conquista.  Edad de los niños: de 2 a 11 años. From your starting point by Edinburgh Castle, you head out of the city to the charming village of Roslin, making your first stop at one of Scotland’s most extraordinary buildings - Rosslyn Chapel*. The Chapel’s worldwide fame increased thanks to Dan Brown’s bestselling novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’. Described as the “Library in Stone”, the inside walls of Rosslyn Chapel are adorned with thousands of ancient carvings, each with a story of its own. You can also learn of the myths and legends surrounding the chapel, including tales of the Knights Templar.  Leaving Rosslyn you will continue into the heart of the Scottish Borders, an area rich in hills, valleys, rivers and moorland, as well as being the traditional home to Scottish rugby. Next travel to the historic town of Melrose, birthplace of the game of Rugby Sevens and location of Melrose Abbey, founded in 660 AD, and said to be the burial place of the casket containing the heart of Robert the Bruce. Here you stop for lunch and have free time to explore Melrose and its Abbey*.  On your return journey, you will travel via the village of St. Boswells and pause for a photo stop at Scott’s View, where you can enjoy glorious scenic views overlooking the valley of the River Tweed, reputed to be one of the favourite beauty spots of the famous Scottish author, Sir Walter Scott. The journey north takes you to Pencaitland, where you will visit the charming Glenkinchie Distillery*, one of the few Lowland whisky distilleries in Scotland.  Here you can enjoy “a tour and a taste”, learn more about “the water of life” and sample some of Glenkinchie’s finest malts.
