No standing elbow-to-elbow with other tourists, no seeing the church as if through a strobe light from hundreds of popping flashbulbs, no noise from the crowds. In-stead, you’re alone with your guide and the custodian. So you can experience the ba-silica as it should be experienced: in tranquility and peace. Of course, you’ll also be able to skip all the lines—not only into the basilica, but also to see the Pala d’Oro, the spectacular, Byzantine altarpiece that uses more than 1,900 gems! During the day, there’s a line to see this, but now? You have it almost all to yourself. Since you’re alone in the basilica with Walks of Italy groups only, you can even go where others, visiting during the day, can’t. Like the crypt, which the custodian un-locks for you: This is where the bones of St. Mark are said to actually be kept. Plus, you can see the stained walls here from the past floods that have devastated Ven-ice—the crypt used to be flooded every time the high tide hit the city! Aside from the emptiness of the basilica, nighttime is the best time to visit because that’s when the mosaics are at their most beautiful. All 43,000 square feet are lit up, glimmering and sparkling in the dark! If just seeing the basilica this way weren’t entrancing enough, there’s also your guide, an expert who’s passionate about Venetian art and history—and about shar-ing it with you in the most fun way possible. Highlights Experience a romantic sunset from the most scenic spot in Santorini at Oia. Sail on a traditional wooden boat and tour the islands of the Caldera! The boat departs from the old port of Fira and heads towards the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, which lies just 10 minutes away from the bay of Fira. The boat will remain there for 1 hour 15 mins. This gives you plenty of time to walk up to the volcano’s active craters and take photos- it takes about 20 mins. It is worth reaching the top to experience the smoke evaporating and the sulfur's intense smell, when you scratch the volcano’s surface. The next stop is the island of Palaia Kameni where the Hot Springs are located. The boat anchors a few meters outside the small bay of Agios Nikolaos, it lowers down a ladder in the water and you will have 30 mins for a revitalising swim! You can swim a distance of about 30 meters into the famous mud baths of Palaia Kameni which are believed to have beneficial abilities for skin and other diseases. The water temperature is 30-35 degrees Celsius, but it is constantly mixed with sea water. The island of Thirassia is the next destination of your sailing tour, where you will have 2 hours free time to swim in the crystal waters of Korfos or to taste the local dishes in one of the traditional taverns.You can walk or take a donkey ride to the nearby picturesque village of Manolas with its narrow streets - the view from there to Santorini is definitely worth a visit.  The journey reaches its peak at Oia. During the boat ride to the port of Oia, you will experience sailing near the volcanic cliffs for a chance to capture with your camera the unique landscape. At the port, you will disembark and you will go up the 275 steps or ride a donkey to meet your bus that will take you to the village of Oia. There you will have free time to walk through the narrow streets, take pictures of the mesmerizing scenery and watch the famous sunset. Right after the sunset the bus will take you back to Fira Central Square. Heute werden die Prunkräume des Buckingham Palace der Queen und Mitgliedern der königlichen Familie ausgiebig genutzt, um die Gäste bei staatlichen, zeremoniellen und offiziellen Anlässen zu empfangen. Wenn die Königin ihren jährlichen Besuch in Schottland macht, sind die 19 Prunkräume des Palastes für Besucher geöffnet. Was gibt es zu sehen? Die Buckingham Palace State Rooms bilden das Herz des Palastes und sind mit einigen der größten Schätze aus der königlichen Sammlung ausgestattet - Gemälde von Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin und Canaletto; Skulpturen von Canova; ausgewählte Arbeiten von Sèvres Porzellan; und einige der begehrtesten englischen und französischen Möbel. Der Garten Der Garten des Palastes, der als "ummauerte Oase mitten in London" beschrieben wird, beherbergt dreißig verschiedene Vogelarten und mehr als 350 verschiedene Wildblumen, von denen einige äußerst selten sind. Auf dem Pfad entlang der Südseite des Gartens hat man einen herrlichen Blick auf die Westfassade des Palastes und den berühmten See.   Audioguide Ein Audioguide ist im Ticketpreis enthalten und ist in neben Englisch und Deutsch auch in vielen weiteren Sprachen verfügbar. Es gibt auch einen besonderen Audioguide für Familien (nur in englischer Sprache) und einen begleitenden Aktionspfad, der für Kinder von 7 bis11 Jahren geeignet ist. Wachablösung Die Zeremonie der Wachablösung findet von April bis Ende Juli täglich um 11:30 Uhr und an anderen Tagen je nach Wetterlage statt. Die neuen Wachen kommen um 11:30 Uhr von den Wellington Barracks auf den Vorplatz des Palastes und werden von einer Kapelle begleitet.
