Note: On some hills the scooter will require a bit of “kick” to maintain momentum. The electric motors are helpful on the hills but are not strong enough to propel heavier guests up some slopes. Be prepared to kick. If you have never ridden a bike this may not be the activity for you. Riding a scooter requires side to side balance similar to riding a bike.
SAMPLE ITINERARY – HALF DAY 8:00am – 9:00am: Pick up from San Francisco hotels Approx 10:30am: Head into the Computer History Museum where you will learn the history of tech in California and see some of the world’s first computers! Your admission is included in the tour. Approx. 12:00pm: You’ll be dropped off to explore the Google Campus and explore the gift shop. You can also “check in” at the famous Facebook Thumbs-Up sign! Approx 1:30: Enjoy a tasty meal in downtown Palo Alto before heading back into San Francisco. Approx 4:00pm: Return to your San Francisco hotel * Silicon Valley Tip: Google, Apple, Facebook, and other possible stops on this tour are places of business, and people are working in the buildings. Barbary Coast Walking Tour: (Tour begins at Stop #4 - operates daily @ 12:00) Tour takes you through a nine block radius of what was once the haunt of the low and vile. Hear about San Francisco’s small beginnings, its boom-town growth because of the California Gold Rush and the end of The Barbary Coast due to the Red Light Abatement Act. The walk will take you through the present Financial District and Jackson Square Historic District. Fisherman’s Wharf Walking Tour: (Tour begins at Stop #1 - operates daily @ 14:00) The Fisherman’s Wharf walking tour takes you all the main attractions of the Wharf area, including Ghirardelli Square, the Cannery and Pier 39. See and learn about the famous food and restaurants and the historic ships at Aquatic Park. This walk will familiarize you with role the wharf has played in the history of the city—from the Gold rush, through the labor struggles of the 1930’s and the psychedelic explorations of the 1960’s.
The tour starts at the Turia gardens, a beautifully landscaped park built on the dried-up river that used to wind its way through the city. Pedal past the main monuments of this sophisticated city, including its splendid and rather unique-looking cathedral, which while mainly Gothic with early Romanesque influences also has Renaissance, baroque and neo-classical features. See the imposing Torres de Quart, the bustling Central Market and the buzzing Carme district, heading for Valencia’s newest landmark, the ultra-modern City of the Arts and Sciences.
