Enjoy a full day tour taking in some of the most dramatic scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Visit Glencoe and have the chance to enjoy a cruise on Loch Ness and a visit to Urquhart Castle. From Glasgow you will travel north before making a refreshment stop on the shores of Loch Lomond. Travelling the length of the loch, you will climb up into the Highlands, over the unique, dramatic landscape of Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount to majestic Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most haunting glens, site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald clan. Continuing via Loch Linnhe, you'll stop in the Fort William area for lunch, then journey onwards, passing beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before you enter the natural beauty of the Great Glen. Travelling on, you can admire the Caledonian Canal and the pretty village of Fort Augustus, enjoying spectacular views of Loch Ness as you drive along the shoreline to Urquhart Castle. Loch Ness, 24 miles long and 700 feet deep, is most famous for sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, affectionately known as “Nessie”. You will spend 2 hours at Loch Ness, where you can choose to explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle* and learn of its history inside the modern visitor centre, and also take an Award Winning Jacobite cruise* across the loch. Passing through Inverness, Capital of the Highlands, you will start your return journey home. Cross the Grampian Mountains and the woodland scenery of Perthshire, including the Forest of Atholl, with an evening refreshment stop at the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, en route back to Glasgow. *OPTIONAL EXTRA. The boat departs from the old port of Fira and heads towards the volcanic island of Nea Kameni, which lies just 10 minutes away from the bay of Fira. The boat will remain there for 1 hour 15 mins. This gives you plenty of time to walk up to the volcano’s active craters and take photos- it takes about 20 mins. It is worth reaching the top to experience the smoke evaporating and the sulfur's intense smell, when you scratch the volcano’s surface. The next stop is the island of Palaia Kameni where the Hot Springs are located. The boat anchors a few meters outside the small bay of Agios Nikolaos, it lowers down a ladder in the water and you will have 30 mins for a revitalising swim! You can swim a distance of about 30 meters into the famous mud baths of Palaia Kameni which are believed to have beneficial abilities for skin and other diseases. The water temperature is 30-35 degrees Celsius, but it is constantly mixed with sea water. The island of Thirassia is the next destination of your sailing tour, where you will have 2 hours free time to swim in the crystal waters of Korfos or to taste the local dishes in one of the traditional taverns.You can walk or take a donkey ride to the nearby picturesque village of Manolas with its narrow streets - the view from there to Santorini is definitely worth a visit. The journey reaches its peak at Oia. During the boat ride to the port of Oia, you will experience sailing near the volcanic cliffs for a chance to capture with your camera the unique landscape. At the port, you will disembark and you will go up the 275 steps or ride a donkey to meet your bus that will take you to the village of Oia. There you will have free time to walk through the narrow streets, take pictures of the mesmerizing scenery and watch the famous sunset. Right after the sunset the bus will take you back to Fira Central Square. You should bring with you: Comfortable shoes (sport shoes/rubber sole) Light summer clothes (shorts/T-shirts) Sunblock cream and hat Bathing suit and towel A jacket for the evening (it gets breezy) Cash for the entrance fees to the volcano, the drinks on board and the cable car or donkey ride
Where does the tour start? All tours start outside Gate 2 of Etihad Stadium, located in the Docklands area of the Melbourne CBD. Etihad Stadium can be easily reached via walking, train or tram (take any of trams 11, 35, 48, 70, 75, 86 or 96) and exiting at Southern Cross Station. Do I need to arrive early for my tour? It is advised that you arrive 5 minutes prior to your tour start time so that you can check in and go to the toilet or grab some snacks before the tour starts. What do I need to bring on the tour with me? It is highly recommended that you bring with you a poncho, umbrella, suncream, water and a hat. You can never guess what Melbourne's weather will do next! Do you offer tours in languages other than English? At present all of our tours are conducted only in English however we are working towards offering tours in additional languages. Is the tour suitable for all ages and for wheelchair users? The tour is suitable for all ages however unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchairs. What happens in the event of bad weather? Does the tour still run? A little rain never hurt anybody! City Sports Tours runs in all weathers. We will contact you if a tour is to be cancelled due to bad weather. After lunch you will journey over to the beautiful town of Lagos - indoor slave market (the first in Europe), Saint Anthony’s golden church, fort and old town. Afterwards you continue on to Cape Saint Vincent, the most southwesterly point of Europe, known as “the End of the World”.
