Sa saveur legerement sucree se marie tres bien a des recettes de gateaux et c est l un des ingredients du traditionnel pain d epice. En plus des avantages culinaires, le seigle est reconnu comme favorisant la circulation sanguine. Description et origine : Le seigle provient du Moyen-Orient, mais prefere les climats froids. C est une plante biannuelle du genre Secale appartenant a la famille des Poacees (graminees). Le seigle n a ete une culture en soi que tardivement. Pendant longtemps, il sera recolte accidentellement en meme temps que le ble ou l orge sans avoir ete expressement seme et se comportant plutot comme une mauvaise herbe. C est en s apercevant que ses rendements etaient meilleurs que ceux des autres cereales que le seigle devint une vraie cereale.
