So arbeitet das Fahrwerkt der Mercedes S-Klasse W221 Mercedes-Benz-Modelle, die mit einem Luftfederungssystem ausgerüstet sind, tragen die Bezeichnung AIRMATIC. Die verbauten Luftfederbeine verfügen dabei über ADS (ADS = Adaptives Dämpfungs-System) und Magnetventile. Deren Aufgabe besteht darin, die Dämpfung durch Umleitung des Öls über das ADS-Magnetventil, härter oder weicher zu stellen. Dank verschiedener Sensoren passt das Steuergerät die Einstellung des Fahrwerks automatisch an Fahrermodi (Sport, Komfort), Straßenzustand und Geschwindigkeit an. Beispielsweise wird eine anfänglich weiche Grundfederung bei höheren Geschwindigkeiten straffer und sorgt somit für deutlich mehr Fahrstabilität. Luftfeder undicht oder Niveauregelung ausgefallen? Gründe für einen Defekt Ihr Mercedes senkt sich einseitig vorne ab oder steht vorne schief? Wie viele andere Autoteile macht der Verschleiß auch vor Federbeinen nicht Halt, sodass diese im Laufe der Jahre ausgetauscht werden müssen. Erste Anzeichen für ein Problem sind Undichtigkeiten am Stoßdämpfer durch Öl Verlust sowie eine verminderte Federwirkung durch Druckluftverlust. Das Fahrzeug senkt sich über Nacht auf der Vorderachse ab oder der Kompressor läuft zu lange? Dies kann ein Hinweis darauf sein, dass die betroffenen Fahrwerksteile ausgetauscht werden sollten. Auch wenn aus Stoßdämpfern Öl austritt und Ihr Wagen somit Öl verliert oder Sie während der Fahrt laute Poltergeräusche wahrnehmen, sollte man mit dem Reparieren nicht allzu lange warten. Ein Kabelbruch, defektes Magnetventil am Ventilblock oder beschädigtes Druckablassventil am Kompressor können ebenso bei Mercedes-AIRMATIC-Modellen dafür sorgen, dass sich das Fahrzeug nicht mehr absenken lässt oder die Dämpfung deutlich härter als gewohnt ist. Des Weiteren können Restdruckhalteventile, Niveau- oder die Beschleunigungssensoren defekt sein. Diese Teile versorgen dann die AIRMATIC-STEUERUNG mit falschen Werten, wodurch das Luftfederbein ebenfalls sehr hart wird. Hinweise zum Wechseln und zur korrekten Installation von Fahrwerksteilen Nach dem Einbauen des vorderen Federbeins dürfen Sie die Luftfederbeine nicht sofort mit Druckluft befüllen, da bei dem angehobenen Fahrzeug die Achsen runterhängen und somit außerhalb des Regelbereiches der AIRMATIC-Steuerung liegen. Aus diesem Grund sollten Sie nach dem Montieren des neuen Federbeins das Fahrzeug soweit runterfahren, bis die Räder wieder Bodenkontakt haben und der Abstand zwischen Radmitte und Kotflügel ca. 40 cm beträgt. Bitte das Fahrzeug auch nicht vollständig runterfahren, da das Luftfederbein noch nicht ganz mit Druckluft befüllt ist. Ohnehin ist es ratsam, die Installation bzw. die Montage unserer Ersatzteile fachkundigen Werkstattmitarbeitern zu überlassen.
