Der aus der autochthonen, vor allem in Süditalien angebauten Traube erzeugte Rote zeigt im Glas ein tiefdunkles Rot mit violetten Schattierungen. Sein intensives Bukett wird durch den Duft nach Veilchen und schwarzen Früchten bestimmt. Am Gaumen zeigt er einen vollen Körper, präsentiert sich sanft und leicht-würzig im Geschmack, mit einem sehr guten Trinkfluss versehen. Passt zu gebratenem rotem Fleisch, Gegrilltem, feinen Wildgerichten und gereiften Käsesorten.
