Das „Saddle Bronc Riding“ ist ein beliebter Wettbewerb im Rodeo. Der Cowboy muss sich dabei möglichst lange auf dem Rücken eines buckelnden Wildpferdes halten. Keine leichte Aufgabe! Beim „Saddle Bronc Riding“ wird ein wildes Pferd (auch „Bronc“ genannt) gesattelt. Sobald der Cowboy aufgestiegen ist und ein Zeichen gibt, wird das Gatter zur Arena geöffnet. Das Pferd rennt buckelnd los, und der Reiter darf sich nur mit einer Hand am Knauf des Sattels festhalten. Wenn er mit der anderen Hand das Pferd berührt, hagelt es Punktabzug. Wie beim Bullenreiten muss der Cowboy sich mindestens acht Sekunden oben halten. Es kommt aber nicht nur auf die Zeit an.
