Named after the Rolls Royce powered Avon turbojet engine, the AV-4064 is the latest installment of watches inspired by the iconic Hawker Hunter aircraft. To pronounce the engine influence, the watch features a slanted serrated bezel across the 45 mm case. The case features hardened mineral lens, and crafted out of 316L stainless steel. The crown itself is an engine of sorts echoing the aesthetic cues seen on the bezel and is paired with matching piston like chronograph pushers. A cockpit inspired multi-layered dial is replete with design cues and inspiration taken directly from the Hawker Hunter. Bold skeletonized “fleiger” hands are modern in concept, yet familiar, in function and style. The hands rotate across the dial with clear luminous baton markings and tachymeter read out on the inside tension ring. Strapped to the wrist with a vintage inspired hand-stitched leather strap, this is a wearable, functional and remarkably detailed piece of watchmaking.
