Das Lexicon MX400 besitzt zwei getrennt arbeitende Dual-Effektgeräte, integriert in einer 1 HE, 19\" Einheit. Die 4x separaten Ein- und Ausgänge können wahlweise mit analogen und digitalen S/PDIF Signalen belegt werden. Durch das große hintergrundbeleuchtete Grafikdisplay lassen sich alle Einstellungen intuitiv und schnell editieren. Für den Einsatz im Studio besitzt das MX400 einen USB-Anschluss inklusive VST Plug-In. Dadurch lässt sich das MX400 als ?Hardware Plug-In? in jeder digitalen Workstation mit VST-Unterstützung integrieren und steuern. Die USB Plug-In Architektur erlaubt die Einbindung der legendären Lexicon Hall- und Effektalgorithmen direkt in einer Audio-Workstation. Alle Einstellungen können so mit der Session wieder hergestellt werden. Das MX400 erlaubt die Erzeugung von 4x Effekten gleichzeitig in 7x verschiedenen Routingmöglichkeiten. Im Gerät stehen je 99 Werks- und Userprogramme für den Stereo- und den Dual-Stereo-Mode zur Verfügung. Im Surround-Mode sind je 25 Werks- und User Programme vorhanden.
